Hostess Iced Pumpkin Cupcakes Review
Another summer coming to an end, another season of pumpkin spice shit on SnackGator. It’s truly one of my most favorite times of the year. Jeni’s too. Want proof? Jeni and I went out to Starbucks the second the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew came out. The employees were probably lowkey making fun of us each when we ordered them as Starbucks was just opening. It a warm, sunny, August day, yet there we were ordering a fall-inspired drink. We look forward to the Starbucks fall menu each fall, but that’s not the only thing we look forward to. We also look forward to the Hostess snacks lineup. Mostly because it’s ALL PUMPKIN SPICE! Yes baby!
This year, Hostess is changing things up by launching new Iced Pumpkin CupCakes. These are not to be confused with Pumpkin Spice CupCakes, which were out last year. They are different and I’m so excited to try these! Hostess teased us with the announcement of this new flavor on their Instagram page back on August 20th. Needless to say, I’ve probably wasted 362 gallons of gas trying to hunt them down since. Finally found them at Meijer and I am so pumped.
These Iced Pumpkin CupCakes feature pumpkin flavored cakes that are filled with cream and topped with rich cream cheese icing. Heck yea I am excited. If it’s anything like the Pumpkin Spice CupCakes, I know I am going to love them. Although I couldn’t find the Pumpkin Spice CupCakes on shelves this year (these may have replaced them), I do remember how they taste and will be able to tell you if these are better.
These cupcakes are exactly what I want them to be. A very moist cake that tastes incredible. So much heavenly pumpkin spice flavoring! Honestly, I am not sure if there is a much of a difference between these and the Pumpkin Spice CupCakes that were previously out, but I am not complaining. They are so similar in taste. They’re incredible. Just buy these. The frosting and the cream filling are just your standard Hostess frosting and creme filling. The magic lies in the actual cake portion. That’s where all the glorious ‘iced’ pumpkin flavor is coming from.
It’s a strong pumpkin flavor, but the creaminess from the center helps keep that in check. The frosting top layer is super sweet, but it is a Hostess CupCake after all. From the cake, to the filling, to the frosting, even to the squiggle on top the frosting…this cupcake comes together as a gem. The ONLY thing that would make this better right now is if I had a Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew to enjoy it with. Brb, heading to Starbucks real quick. I’m basic AF. #PumpkinSpiceEverything
