Maple Creme Oreos Review

Like every year, summer must sadly come to end. However, as they always say — when one door closes, another one opens. In the snack world, that translates to seasonal flavors babyyyyy! As the fall months approach, we will obviously be seeing a ton of pumpkin spice everywhere. We barely ever see other fall flavors outside of that because everyone is basic and loves pumpkin spice everything.

Oreo already launched Pumpkin Spice Oreos in the past, and they have made reappearances throughout the years. A few months back, we found out that Maple Creme Oreos would be hitting shelves in place of these Pumpkin Spice Oreos and they are finally here! Get in my tummy… like now!

These limited-edition Maple Creme Oreos feature a maple flavor creme sandwiched between two golden cookies. As soon as I opened the package, I was left a bit confused. I was expecting a strong distinct maple syrup scent, but I didn’t get that at all. Honestly, it smelled more like dog treats to me than it did maple syrup. But I am not here to review the scent (can you imagine — ScentGator?! ?) , so let’s see how they taste!

I know you guys are all waiting for a nice review for this long awaited flavor, but sadly, I have some bad news for you. I’m not all that impressed. These cookies had so much potential and Oreo had so much time to perfect them — but they could be better. If you’ve tried Waffles & Syrup Oreos from a few years back — these remind me of them. The first flavor you pick up on is maple syrup. But only a hint of it. What?! A few seconds later, and you’re hit with a buttery flavor. Not in a good way. It’s too buttery and over takes any hint of maple syrup we get.

The extreme buttery presence in these cookies is enough for me to not enjoy these. The creme (when eating alone) is also a tad too sweet for my liking. I wouldn’t mind this sweetness if there was more of a maple syrup presence. There’s only traces of maple syrup. The good news is that the golden wafer cookies do pair nicely with the sweet creme filling.  These Oreos are not nasty by any means, and I encourage you to try them while you can, but I am pretty sure you all will be let down a bit by the lack of maple syrup flavor.

I am glad that Oreo did release these, because it’s nice to have something other than pumpkin spice in every single snack during the fall. Although they do somewhat smell like dog treats, thankfully they do not take like dog treats. More like butter treats with a hint of maple syrup. I mentioned in the beginning that one saying everyone knows — as one door closes, another one opens. Yup, that one. The door of Maple Creme Oreos is just opening (they were released today as I type this), so I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts on them once you’ve tried them. I steal my nieces’ Halloween candy and laugh about it, put whipped cream on vegetables, don’t trust food that isn’t in a package, and worship ice cream. Chips are my favorite snack and might just end up being my downfall. I would marry Flamin' Hot Cheetos if it was legal (and not weird). Born and raised near Detroit, I grew up eating delicious coney dogs, unique pizzas, and of course --- all the best snacks.
