Flamin’ Hot Nacho Doritos Review

Being a 90s kid, my childhood mostly consisted of playing Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64, watching Rocko’s Modern Life, spending four years to sign into America Online, annoying my sisters, and eating snacks like Dunkaroos and Flamin’ Hot Doritos. All of these (except annoying my sisters) have been phased out, sadly. Including Dunkaroos and Flamin’ Hot Doritos (pictured below).

Remember these bad boys? Welllll they are BACK! OMG MY LIFE IS COMPLETE!!!! It’s safe to say that 2019 is off to an amazing start. “New” Flamin’ Hot Nacho Doritos feature “nacho” added to the name, which is throwing me off. I am hoping that this isn’t a new recipe, as the original one was classic and the definition of perfect. It has been nearly twenty years since Frito-Lay discontinued our beloved Flamin’ Hot Doritos. I don’t know why the heck they were even discontinued in the first place. These chips were simply amazing.

Getting straight to the point. 90s kids — rejoice. These are spot on with the original. Flashbacks from my childhood emerged the second I ate one. For those of who have never tried them back in the 90s, just know this is probably what spicy snacks in heaven tastes like. It’s the classic Flamin’ Hot Cheetos flavor we all love… in Doritos form. A hint of classic Dorito Nacho flavor surfaces after the spiciness strikes.

These chips feature a heavy amount of seasoning. After eating just five of them, my fingers were coated in thick layer of red dust. These are exactly how I remember them to be. I am a bit confused why they added “nacho” to the name, as these do not feature a new recipe. Just don’t let that “nacho” addition to the name throw you off at all…buy with confidence. If you love Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and Nacho Doritos, you simply cannot go wrong. These are definitely on the spicy side, so if you’ve never had them before and don’t have a high heat tolerance, be sure to have a glass of water next to you. YUM!

Frito-Lay…DO NOT mess this one up — keep this on shelves permanently please!

I steal my nieces’ Halloween candy and laugh about it, put whipped cream on vegetables, don’t trust food that isn’t in a package, and worship ice cream. Chips are my favorite snack and might just end up being my downfall. I would marry Flamin' Hot Cheetos if it was legal (and not weird). Born and raised near Detroit, I grew up eating delicious coney dogs, unique pizzas, and of course --- all the best snacks.
