Honey Nut Frosted Flakes Cereal Review

Honey has been a part of the cereal lineup forever. Almost every cereal variety has a honey flavor. Honey Nut Cheerios, Honey Nut Chex, Post Honey O’s, Honey Bunches of Oats, Honey Smacks…the list goes on and on. You probably know what I am leading to…why the heck did it take Frosted Flakes THIS long to launch a honey variety? Tony the Tiger clearly has been slacking. I was so curious what in the world Tony the Tiger has been up to and I started digging around on his Wikipedia page. Here some interesting facts about Tony that I uncovered that I guarantee you had no idea about:

  • He’s Italian-American
  • His mom, Mama Tony, was featured in a commercial in 1977.
  • He’s married
  • He has two children: Tony Jr. and Antoinette (!!!)

So…yeah. I’m convinced Tony the Tiger has been hiding his Honey Nut variety from us all all these years and keeping it for his kids. Sorry, Tony Jr. and Antoinette, Honey Nut Frosted Flakes are no longer just for you!

Set to launch in January 2019, new Honey Nut Frosted Flakes Cereal is everything we have hoped and dreamed of. The golden, crunchy flakes are glazed with a real honey frosting and you can definitely taste it! The honey element adds such a unique twist on a classic favorite. The addition of the golden honey glaze makes these Frosted Flakes a tad bit sweeter than usual, but it isn’t overly sweet. It’s done just right! Let’s remember, the flavor isn’t just honey…it’s honey nut. There’s also a distinct roasted nutty flavor that you pick up on after the sweet, golden honey flavor hits your mouth. It’s just perfect!

This cereal definitely delivers! As a bonus, the milk afterwards has a bit of a honey-like taste to it! I poured myself two bowls of this cereal and couldn’t get enough. So yeah… I’m pretty confident Tony the Tiger has just been hiding this cereal from the public for a while now. Think about it…he’s GRRRR-EAT at hiding stuff. Did any of us know about his secret life? Who knew he had a wife and kids?

Regardless…go buy this cereal the second you find it on the shelves! You won’t be let down!

I steal my nieces’ Halloween candy and laugh about it, put whipped cream on vegetables, don’t trust food that isn’t in a package, and worship ice cream. Chips are my favorite snack and might just end up being my downfall. I would marry Flamin' Hot Cheetos if it was legal (and not weird). Born and raised near Detroit, I grew up eating delicious coney dogs, unique pizzas, and of course --- all the best snacks.

  • Honey Nut Frosted Flakes may actually be a reissue of Honey Crunch Corn Flakes, which in turn may have been a reissue of Kellogg’s Nut & Honey Crunch. However, unlike the predecessors of Honey Nut Frosted Flakes, the product reviewed here does not actually contain nuts. (I wrote to Kellogg’s asking why the word “nut” is in this variety of Frosted Flakes when the product does not contain nuts and they answered “Honey Nut is just a flavor description. No, there are no nuts in the cereal, no nuts in the flavoring, the product is not made on the same equipment as products that contain nuts.” I hope enough people ask Kellogg’s the same question I did that Kellogg’s starts printing on the package that the cereal does not contain nuts, Honey Nut is just a flavor description.
