Cinnamon Toast Crunch Churros Cereal Review
Cinnamon Toast Crunch is arguably one of the best cereals in existence. Piece by piece, the cereal is covered in glorious sweet cinnamon sugar. The crunch is unreal. And after you’ve finished eating, you’ve got yourself a bowl of delicious sugar cinnamon milk. The launch of this new Cinnamon Toast Crunch Churros tells us one thing — General Mills really wants to make it easier on us to have dessert for breakfast. Hey, I’m on board.
Churros and I go way back. I seriously go out of my way to hit up carnivals in the summer just to get a churro. It’s not only a summertime favorite of mine either…I also go out of my way to get one from the Costco food court as well. True story, I once went in the middle of a snowstorm to Costco just for a churro because my fatass was craving one big time. These tasty deep fried sticks of dough sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon are just heaven. My bet is that the cereal version of churros are gonna be outstanding as well…let’s find out!
According to General Mills, these bite-size churros are dusted with real cinnamon “to deliver a sweet cinnamon flavor”. They also go on to mention that “you can count on each bite staying crunchy in milk”. The first thing I notice when I open the box of cereal is how cute the pieces are. They truly are mini churros! I pour myself a bowl and immediately notice that they smell exactly like Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Since these pieces are larger than ordinary Cinnamon Toast Crunch squares, I also notice there’s more cinnamon sugar coating on each piece.
Getting to the point — these are outstanding. Didn’t I tell you Cinnamon Toast Crunch is one of the best cereals ever? Well, nothing has changed. These taste identical to original Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal…with a tad bolder cinnamon sugar flavor and more of a ‘doughy’ flavor. The doughy element of this cereal is a nice touch to replicate the churro! As General Mills claims, these churro pieces are designed to ‘stay crunchy in milk’. I put that to the test and left some in my bowl for a whopping 15 minutes. Unbelievably, the cereal was still crunchy! Nothing is sadder than soggy cereal, and General Mills did a great job to address this heartbreaking issue.
I would eat eat these little churros by the handful anytime of the day. Don’t expect these to taste much different than the original Cinnamon Toast Crunch, but the concept and shape of this new cereal makes it a definite buy. I no longer need to venture out to Costco in the middle of a Michigan snowstorm this winter to satisfy my churro needs.
