Hershey’s & York Hot Cocoa Mix Review

Hot cocoa and I go way back. Growing up in Michigan, the winters are long, snowy, and cold, so I have drank my fair share of hot cocoa. When I was a kid, my dad would take me sledding during my snow days and we’d bring a Thermos with us filled with hot cocoa. My fatass would honestly look forward to the hot cocoa more than the sledding. Fast forward to several years later when I got a job working at 7-Eleven. My fatass would drink hot cocoa all shift long, and take some with me to go home when I was done (hey, it was free). Fast forward even more to last winter, when I went to the Christmas tree lighting in downtown Detroit. My fatass went just for the hot cocoa…trust me, I literally was dragged to go by my family.

You get the gist…my fatass loves hot cocoa! It’s a winter staple here in Michigan and I honestly can’t get enough. Hershey’s and York quietly released their own version of hot cocoa and I couldn’t be more excited. When I say quietly, I mean it. They made absolutely no announcement of this product hitting shelves soon, and it’s nowhere to be found on the internet at the moment when you Google it. It’s brand spankin’ new…just like the new five to ten pounds I put on every winter hibernating. *tear*

Hershey’s is a timeless classic. We’ve all grown up eating Hershey’s bars and now we can officially drink it in hot cocoa form with this new Hershey’s Hot Cocoa Mix. The instructions state to empty a packet into a mug, add 6oz of hot water, and stir. Simple as that! After easy preparation, I took a sip. I honestly thought this was going to taste like a generic hot cocoa, but boy was I wrong. It has that distinct Hershey’s chocolate taste to it! I’ve never really been a fan of Hershey’s chocolate, but if you’re a fan, you’ll absolutely love it. It’s rich, smooth, and easy to drink.

Here’s what I was really excited about — the York Peppermint Hot Cocoa Mix! I’ve been addicted to York Peppermint Patty’s since I was like 10. I almost like them as much as Reese’s. I personally like to freeze them and eat them cold.  The ice cold minty sensation mixed with the delicious dark chocolate makes for one delectable treat. Now, I can finally enjoy it in hot cocoa form! Just like the Hershey’s mix, this one took just a couple of minutes to prepare. I’m in love. It’s pure cocoa pleasure. You get the minty sensation at first, followed by the dark chocolate flavor. It’s not too minty, not too chocolatey. It’s the perfect balance and replicates the York Peppermint Patty so well. As my mug says…this York Peppermint Hot Cocoa Mix makes me happy…SO incredibly happy!

It’s officially November 15th and winter is on its way here in Michigan. You know what that means? My fatass can continue drinking hot cocoa endlessly and gain another five to ten pounds this winter hibernating. These hot cocoa mixes will for damn sure be a part of my winter…especially the York one. Now…my life would be complete if they’d just make a Reese’s Hot Cocoa Mix. Who’s with me?!
