Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake Oreo Review

One sure thing in life is that every single kid has at least one memory of getting a Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream bar from an ice cream truck. The good old days…when summer vacation felt like an eternity, you didn’t know what day of the week it was, and no one was glued to their screens reading about junk food (ahem). Plain and simple, times were simpler. Every time I buy the Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake bars, it brings me back to my childhood. I remember alwayyyys picking this ice cream bar over the fun cartoon bars from the ice cream truck. I didn’t mess with the bullshit, I went straight for the strawberry gold — every. single. damn. time. Needless to say, I was a pretty brilliant kid.

The Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream bar is a classic. I know you all are familiar with the timeless ice cream bar…the strawberry and vanilla ice cream coated in delicious pink and white strawberry shortcake cookie crumbs (*drool*). One of the most iconic ice cream bars in the world is officially here in cookie form, thanks to Oreo!

Notice the ‘strawberry flavored bits’.

In cookie form, the Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake Oreo consists of a golden wafer with ‘strawberry flavored bits’ embedded into them and a strawberry shortcake filling. The smell is identical to the actual bar…which gets me excited that these are about to be delicious. A closer look at the wafers reveals that the ‘strawberry flavored bits’ look pretty close to the cake crumbs found on exterior of the actual ice cream bar. Tasting the wafer alone, I wanted to determine if the strawberry addition was just for show, or if it actually tasted like strawberry. Immediately, I tasted a hint delicious strawberry. More specifically — strawberry shortcake cookie crumbs (just like the bar) Nothing overpowering or too sweet…it was just right.

Onto the creme. The bright pink creme gets your attention right when you open the package. I notice the creme is whipped and not as thick as the creme in original Oreo cookies. I decided to try the creme alone. It left me simply amazed and perplexed….how in the world did Oreo nail this flavor so perfectly? I’m blown away already and I didn’t even try the cookie altogether yet.

Your favorite summer-time frozen treat is now here in cookie form. YUM!

Eating the Oreo in its entirety at once is a pretty extraordinary experience. You’re straight up eating a Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake bar in cookie form! From the strawberry and vanilla ice cream to the pink and white strawberry shortcake crumbs — they got it right. It’s spot on. The flavors from the  golden wafters with strawberry bits and strawberry shortcake creme combine to give you the full experience. The flavor is identical to the actual bar, and quite frankly, it’s a masterpiece. The Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci, David by Michelangelo, Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh, Symphony No. 5 by Beethoven… and Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake Oreo Cookies. They are all masterpieces.

Now my next step is to eat these Oreos with the actual ice cream bar and relive my childhood. Except instead of being stress-free like my childhood…I have to be stressed that these are a limited-edition flavor. Buy while you can!

Jason

I steal my nieces’ Halloween candy and laugh about it, put whipped cream on vegetables, don’t trust food that isn’t in a package, and worship ice cream. Chips are my favorite snack and might just end up being my downfall. I would marry Flamin' Hot Cheetos if it was legal (and not weird). Born and raised near Detroit, I grew up eating delicious coney dogs, unique pizzas, and of course --- all the best snacks.
