Halo Top Gingerbread House Ice Cream Review

This is the first year that Halo Top offered seasonal flavors. Honestly, I love the idea of seasonal Halo Top flavors. My only issue is that they are so fucking hard to find. At least in Michigan they are. I looked for this Halo Top Gingerbread House flavor for legitimately weeks before I finally found some at Meijer. Grocery trip after grocery trip, I was constantly let down when walking by the Halo Top section of the freezer aisles. At one point, I pretty much gave up and realized I wasn’t going to be able to find it since Christmas isn’t too far away. Thankfully, I decided to do a quick check while shopping for junk food (it’s all I eat). Boom, there it was.

I’m so excited to give this Halo Top a shot! I open it, and a heavenly glow similar to this comes out. Well, not really, but that’s what it feels like as a fat fuck waiting weeks to try it. I give it a whiff and it smells almost like nothing. Upon further smelling, I did pick up on a faint gingerbread spice smell. Let’s dig in.

Halo Top Gingerbread House features bits of gingerbread cookie pieces mixed in the ice cream and at first glance, I spot the pieces right away. I am incredibly impressed with my first bite! I immediately taste a strong warm gingerbread spice and it’s absolutely amazing. I taste a bit of brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and pretty much everything else associated with gingerbread. Ginger immediately hits your tongue, which works perfectly with the vanilla icing ice cream flavor this ice cream uses for the base.

Lots of gingerbread cookie pieces! YUM!

As for the gingerbread cookie pieces, they’re really soft and add an interesting element to the ice cream. The bites I take with a lot of gingerbread cookie pieces are so much more flavorful compared to the bites without these bits on the spoon. They are YUMMY!

I mentioned that these cookie pieces are really soft. They are too soft in my opinion. I would’ve liked a bit of a crunch to them! However, they’re still delicious because they do add a bold gingerbread, cinnamon, and brown sugar taste. I’m just glad Halo Top decided to include a bunch of these pieces throughout the ice cream — every bite is delicious.

So this year, you can skip building your shitty gingerbread house and just buy a few pints of this delicious ice cream! If you insist on building a shitty gingerbread house, just make sure to also buy some of this ice cream regardless. It’s simply delicious and you don’t have to worry about going overboard with the calories like with any ordinary gingerbread house (who actually eats those anyways?).

I steal my nieces’ Halloween candy and laugh about it, put whipped cream on vegetables, don’t trust food that isn’t in a package, and worship ice cream. Chips are my favorite snack and might just end up being my downfall. I would marry Flamin' Hot Cheetos if it was legal (and not weird). Born and raised near Detroit, I grew up eating delicious coney dogs, unique pizzas, and of course --- all the best snacks.
