Pancake & Waffles Halo Top Ice Cream Review

One of the biggest dilemmas when it comes to breakfast is whether you feel like eating pancakes or waffles. Deciding which one you want is a pretty big decision. Each one has positive qualities that can’t be denied. So…which side are you on?

Why not both? Halo Top’s new Pancakes & Waffles flavor makes it easier on you by combining these two gems into one pint. It contains only 280 calories for the entire pint, which is a fraction of what I normally eat in one serving of pancakes or waffles during breakfast (this is probably me).

The ingredients of this ice cream list ‘waffle cone crunch’ and ‘maple syrup swirl’, which indicates to me that this is about to be scrumptious. Waffle cone is always delicious and maple syrup is a true breakfast pleasure and a staple in most households. I’m in the mood for a little bit of pancakes AND waffles myself, so this is perfect timing. My spoon is about to jump right in…

Waffle cone bits everywhere. They’re good.

First bite and I can already tell this ice cream is so good. Very creamy, very smooth, and extremely satisfying. The ice cream melts in your mouth just as a soggy pancake or waffle drenched in syrup would.  Speaking of maple syrup, this ice cream had a very syrupy taste. It tasted pretty identical to the real thing – you get that signature smokey sweetness in every bit. It’s honestly a great substitute to eating 27837845 calories during breakfast eating actual pancakes and waffles.

As the ingredients list indicated, there are waffle cone bits in this ice cream and they are all over the place. You get some waffle cone bits in every bite. However, these waffle cone bits are not crunchy at all but go very well with this ice cream since it melts in your mouth pretty fast.

After a few bites, I was wondering where the ‘maple syrup swirl’ part was. I didn’t see any of it on the surface and although I tasted a prominent maple syrup taste. As I dug deeper into the pint (without regrets), I started to spot these swirls. They look just like maple syrup — you can’t miss them once you see them. Take a bite with these ‘swirls’ and the ice cream gets even better. These swirls add a little fun to the texture of this ice cream and they gave the ice cream even more of a syrup-y taste.

Legit tastes like pancakes and waffles.

I was really excited to try this flavor, however, I didn’t have high expectations on it because I didn’t really think Halo Top could pull off a Pancakes & Waffles flavor. It turns out that Halo Top shut me up and they did a fantastic job pulling this one off. The only thing I can think that could make it better is if they added more maple syrup swirls to it! Maybe it was just my pint, but I had to kinda search around for them to find them.

If you enjoy pancakes or waffles (you’re an idiot if you don’t), go out and buy yourself a pint or two of these. I know what’s for breakfast tomorrow…Pancakes & Waffles Halo Top! Ever since I started blogging about food, my life has been out of control. Send help. But seriously…go freaking buy this ice cream.
