Rainbow Swirl Halo Top Ice Cream Review

So, you’re craving some sherbet while on a low calorie diet? Halo Top’s got your back with their new Rainbow Swirl flavor. At only 240 calories for the entire pint, you can eat the entire thing without your pants getting tighter on you (we’ve all been there). This ice cream features the classic three colors we normally see in sherbet — green, orange, and red.

Pint of fun colors!

I tried each of the ‘colors’ individually to break them down for you.

  • Green tastes like lime. I liked this one the best of the three. Right when you try it, you pick up on the limey taste and it’s actually very delightful.
  • Orange is tastes like orange, obviously. It’s kinda a weird tasting orange though. Very artificial tasting and it actually reminded me a lot of the orange flavored Airheads candy. It had a lingering aftertaste that I noticed just a few moments after trying it.
  • Red tastes like…well I don’t know. If I had to guess, I would say it tastes like raspberry. However, I did pick up on a grape taste as well, so who knows. It’s pretty good (much better than the orange), however it did taste pretty artificial as well.

All flavors in one bite = yum.

All in all, when you take a bite of all three together, I suddenly liked it better! I did get hints of the strong artificial fruit tastes. However, I think all three flavors balanced each other out to make for an enjoyable sherbet. It reminded me of my childhood in some weird way. I’m not going to lie, it was pretty fun swirling all the colors together to make for some cool designs in my ice cream before eating it all. I felt like an artist…just call me Leonardo da Halo Top!

Would I buy this flavor again? I would have to be in the right mood for it. I won’t pick it over my favorites such as candy bar or peanut butter cup on a normal basis, however I would definitely buy it again if I am craving something fruity. A pretty fun flavor though — go try it out for yourself!

By the way, if you have no idea how to pronounce sherbet…this one is for you.

I steal my nieces’ Halloween candy and laugh about it, put whipped cream on vegetables, don’t trust food that isn’t in a package, and worship ice cream. Chips are my favorite snack and might just end up being my downfall. I would marry Flamin' Hot Cheetos if it was legal (and not weird). Born and raised near Detroit, I grew up eating delicious coney dogs, unique pizzas, and of course --- all the best snacks.
