Peanut Butter & Jelly Oreos Review
Thank god that I live near a Kroger location because these Peanut Butter & Jelly Oreos are exclusive to Kroger owned stores. Just in time for back-to-school season (A.K.A peanut butter & jelly sandwiches for lunch season), Nabisco launched these bad boys out of nowhere. They were totally unexpected. It’s hard to believe that we saw Swedish Fish and Peeps Oreos before something so simple and classic – PB&J. To put it simple, I am just glad they’re here.
I was quite surprised that these cookies did smell like peanut butter & jelly. They did smell a tad bit sweeter/fruitier (is that even a word?), but I did pick up on both scents. I decided to take apart the cookie and try the peanut butter and the jelly portions separately before trying the cookie as a whole.
Peanut butter did taste like peanut butter with added sugar. A sweeter peanut butter worked for me because the taste of peanut butter was pretty right on and this is a cookie, afterall. The jelly portion was amazing. I was genuinely surprised how much I enjoyed it. I am almost certain that this jelly is from the same jelly they used for Jelly Donut Oreos…except it is much better now because you get to try a large amount of it at once rather than a tiny dot used in the center of the Jelly Donut Oreos. The jelly portion really did taste like jelly and I was blown away by that.
Peanut butter and jelly were meant to be…the match made in heaven. They go together like biscuits & tea, spaghetti & meatballs, fish & chips, Bob Marley & reggae…you get the hint. They’re just perfect for each other and I would’ve been pretty pissed off if these weren’t yummy together on the wafer cookies. Time to bite into the cookie as a whole and see how it tastes overall!
They are perfect. Two thumbs up for Nabisco for perfecting this because they would’ve let a lot of people down with a super gross PB&J Oreo. The balance of the peanut butter and jelly combined with the golden wafers is a successful combination. As I ate more, I did begin to taste the peanut butter more than the jelly – however, it’s the way it should be when you’re eating a PB&J sandwich. No one wants to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a shitload of jelly. It just doesn’t work right. Thank the cookie gods that these PB&J Oreos replicated the classic sandwich in a cookie form!
If you were planning on packing your kids’ school lunches with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, you might as well save yourself some time and pack up like ten of these cookies and they won’t even care. Stock up because these won’t be on shelves too long!
